This day in history:
Filipino Army Air Corps pilot Jesús Villamor (pictured above) leads a counterattack against against a contingent of Japanese bombers on a raid at Batangas Field in the Philippines.
Outnumbered 54 to 6, Villamor and his fellow Filipino pilots successfully engage the Japanese forces.
Only one Filipino pilot, César Basa, is shot down during the counterattack.
December 12, 1941 - 70 years ago today.
